As one of the most trusted names in the Medicare industry...
AARP offers a variety of Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicare Supplement Insurance through their insurance partner SecureHorizons, a subsidiary of UnitedHealthcare. While the UnitedHealthcare SecureHorizons® plans are offered by a private insurance company, they have been authorized by the AARP® (Association for the Advancement of Retired Persons), an organization that promotes the welfare of senior citizens.
Crosspointe Insurance Advisors is ready to help you choose the right coverage from among these AARP-approved Medicare plans. Whether you need a Medicare Supplement Plan, a Medicare Advantage Plan or Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage, our agents can get you the right kind of coverage to meet your needs and budget.
Here is a brief overview of the AARP United Healthcare & Secure Horizons Medicare Advantage Plans offered by Crosspointe Insurance Advisors.
SecureHorizons® Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C)
By offering a selection of three different Medicare Advantage plans, SecureHorizons gives seniors the flexibility to choose the right coverage.
MedicareComplete® plans (HMO)
The MedicareComplete plan includes all the benefits that are covered through Original Medicare, plus additional protections that can lower your out-of-pocket expenses.
The exact benefits for these HMO-based plans will vary from state to state, but all include annual preventive care services for a $0 co-payment, as well as access to a trusted network of physicians, specialists and hospitals. Some plans offer Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage and additional preventive services for routine hearing, dental and vision checks. Seniors who enroll in the SecureHorizons MedicareComplete managed care plans simply continue to pay their Medicare Part B premium.
MedicareComplete® Plus plans (POS)
MedicareComplete Plus plans offer all the same benefits as the MedicareComplete HMO, but with the flexibility to go outside of the UnitedHealthcare network for some of their healthcare services. However, a co-payment and/or coinsurance would be higher for care received from out-of-network providers. Each state's MedicareComplete® Plan offers a suite of benefits that go above and beyond Original Medicare. A Crosspointe insurance advisor can give you more information about the programs available in your state.
MedicareComplete Choice® plans (PPO plans)
The PPO-based MedicareComplete Choice plan includes all the benefits of Original Medicare plans plus some additional coverage for out-of-network physicians and hospitals. It gives seniors the flexibility to access specialists and out-of-network providers without the need for a referral.
While the actual benefits in these plans vary from state to state, most include Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage (Part D) and additional preventive care services for routine hearing, dental and vision check-ups.
SecureHorizons® MedicareDirect™ plans (PFFS)
MedicareDirect Plans from SecureHorizons are private-fee-for-service (PFFS) health plans that are covered under the federally regulated Medicare Advantage program, and offer certain rights and protections.
MedicareDirect plans from SecureHorizons offer the freedom to seek care from Medicare-eligible providers without referrals, as long as the provider agrees to accept the plan's pre-determined rates for services. A lower cost option than Medigap insurance, PFFS programs like this one place limits on the annual out-of-pocket expenses one can incur. Seniors pay a low monthly premium, or none at all, and predictable co-payments for doctors visits and inpatient hospitalization. Most plans also include Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage.
Medicare Supplement Insurance by UnitedHealthcare® SecureHorizons®
The Medicare Supplement Insurance plans offered by SecureHorizons cover the deductibles and coinsurance that are left by Original Medicare. Depending on the type of supplement you choose, this may include coinsurance co-payments and deductibles. The choices offered within the SecureHorizons Medicare Supplement Plans are designed to cover the gaps left by traditional Medicare insurance.
In most states, the SecureHorizons® Medicare Supplement insurance includes plans A, F, F+ (High Deductible), G, K, L and N. Additional Medicare supplement insurance plans are available in some states.
AARP UnitedHealthcare® SecureHorizons® Special Needs Plans
In addition to the MedicareDirect and MedicareComplete plans, SecureHorizons by UnitedHealthcare also offers Special Needs Plans (SNP) for dual-eligible individuals (both Medicare and Medicaid), or people who have certain chronic illnesses.
AARP® MedicareRx Plans
Offered through UnitedHealthcare®, a Medicare-contracting, private insurance company, these plans provide national coverage throughout the United States. With co-pays as low as $7, these plans feature a drug list with thousands of generic and brand-name prescription drugs, plus access to 60,000+ network pharmacies. Additional savings and convenience are available through their Preferred Mail Service Pharmacy.
